The UKIOG Research Group aims to support research into Oesophagogastric (OG) cancer in the UK.

More specifically its remit includes:

  1. Identifying research needs and priorities for OG cancer in the UK to allow for studies most likely to impact on patient care to be prioritised
  2. Support the development and design of new research projects in all aspects of OG cancer treatment and the care of patients

The group aims to foster collaboration and co-ordinate studies to avoid overlap. Research proposal

review is central to the group’s purpose and the Research Group will supply formal letters of support if appropriate.

Membership of the research committee will include a broad spectrum of scientists and healthcare professionals and at least two patients, carers or persons affected by cancer at any point.
